News release announcing that John Mellor, Director of IFPRI, stated that third world countries will be overwhelmed, economically and environmentally, unless they develop their agriculture with a view to protecting the environment and linking agricultural and environmental issues to alleviating poverty through economic growth and development. Mellor suggest that agricultural research be greatly expanded to resolve this dilemma.
