Abstract/Description
Paper prepared by the Center Directors Committee at the request of the CGIAR Consultative Council on Recommendation 9 of the third System Review, concerning gender research, together with a TAC commentary. The CDC did not support the review recommendation for creation of a new network on women in agriculture, believing that the combination of the CGIAR Systemwide Program on Participatory Research and Gender Analysis, and the CGIAR Gender and Diversity Program provided a comprehensive platform to address gender staffing and research issues.TAC considered that the systemwide program cited could be developed to meet the requirements identified by the review. TAC would make its recommendation after review of a full project proposal from CIAT as leader of the systemwide program.Agenda document at the CGIAR mid term meeting in May 1999, discussed under the heading of Consultative Council Propositions on Science.
