Abstract/Description

Breed characteristics of native cattle of Zimbabwe are discussed. General historical background on origin, geographical distribution of the animals, their physical characteristics, adaptability and performance are described. The cattle breeds described include the Matabele, Mashona, Manguni and Mangwato cattle.
