Abstract/Description
From ancient times people have depended on domesticated animals and the crops needed to feed them. But modern pressures are destroying ancient breeds whose irreplaceable genes are a unique resource in an uncertain world. These three films (length about 12 minutes) outlines the issues and suggest some approaches to this growing challenge. The three films deal with conserving livestock genetic resources for people; saving forage crops for livestock and their keepers; and from germplasm to feed - putting ILRI's gene bank to work respectively.
